Bernice C. Craven

Bernice C. Craven a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 12, 2024 at the age of 96.

She is survived by two sisters, three sons and two grandchildren.

She was born into a loving family, that included five sisters, in the small hamlet of Hiller in western Pennsylvania. She attended nursing school at Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh, PA and subsequently work with Dr. Jonas Salk during the development of the polio vaccine. In 1950 she took a job at Jackson Memorial hospital in Miami, FL. She met and married the love of her life, Bill and they went on to have four sons and a daughter.

Throughout her career Bernice was a thoughtful, kind and gentle nurse to all she cared for, from pediatrics to geriatrics. After 35 years of dedicated service she retired, looking to travel and spend more time with her loved ones. Bernice was a wise selfless and faith filled woman who was always there for her family. She enjoyed the water, be it on a boat, a beach or at a pool. She had a deep love for animals, and they were naturally drawn to her kind gentile spirit.

She has gone on to be with her Lord and Savior and those loved ones who preceded her in death. Bernice touched many lives during her life, in many ways, and in her own small way made the world a better place as the result. She will be greatly missed.

A service was held at the covenience of the family.
