Blake Davenport Obituary

Blake S. Davenport passed away on July 27, 2025, just three days after celebrating his 65th birthday. Born on July 24, 1960, in Wilson, NC. Blake was a person whose adventurous spirit and optimistic outlook on life left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

Blake was a graduate of Fike High School and attended Wilson Community College. He often said that life's greatest lessons were learned through experience, a philosophy he adopted from the school of hard knocks, which taught him resilience and the value of perseverance. In his professional life, Blake was the esteemed owner of the Gallery of Flowers, a testament to his love for beauty and his entrepreneurial spirit.

A devout Christian, Blake was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Wilson, NC.

Blake was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, finding joy and freedom on the open road. His passion for the outdoors was evident to all, with countless weekends spent walking and hiking the picturesque trails of the North Carolina mountains.

Survivors include his wife; Margaret Davenport and son, Jonathan Davenport of Stuart, FL; his brothers, Charles Davenport of Wilson, NC, and Joe Davenport and his wife, Donna, of Raleigh, NC; his sister, Laura Davenport of Wilson, NC; his cherished grandchildren, Ethan and Taylor Davenport of Stuart, FL; and his nephews, Zach Davenport of Morehead City, NC, and Brad Davenport of Raleigh, NC.

Blake was predeceased by his parents; Charles and Laura Davenport.

Blake's life reminds us of the words of Helen Keller: "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Blake embodied this sentiment, approaching each day as a gift and an opportunity for discovery.

A service to celebrate Blake’s life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 13, 2025, at First Methodist Church Wilson with the Reverend Mike Frese and Reverend Charles Robl officiating.
