Carl Wilson Batten, Jr.

Carl Wilson Batten, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2022, at Wilson Assisted Living in Wilson, NC. Mr. Batten was born October 13, 1949, in Wilson, NC son of the late Carl Wilson Batten, Sr. and Helen Barnes Batten.

Carl was a retired service technician for a commercial laundry company. He enjoyed basketball, baseball and football, just about any sport that you could think of, but he was a diehard UNC Tarheel Fan. Carl was devoted to his church, First Baptist Church in Rocky Mount, NC where he was a member for over Fifty years. He enjoyed people and never met a stranger. If you were in his presence, you felt his outgoing kindness and warmth. Carl was going to meet you which is a rare trait in this fast-paced world we live in today. He really and truly enjoyed people.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters, Carrie Roney and her husband, Ben and Mary Helen Batten all of Rocky Mount, NC; niece, Melessa and her husband, Kent of Grapevine, TX; nephew, Ben Roney III of Rocky Mount, NC. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many extended family and friends.

A private family celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
