Dennis J. Robidou

Dennis J. Robidou, age 70, of Wilson, N.C., passed away on June 28, 2026. He was born on January 27, 1956, in Pawtucket, R.I., and lived a life marked by kindness, curiosity, and a deep devotion to the people he loved. He is remembered by those who knew him as a kind, interesting, and spirited man whose presence brought warmth and humor to those around him. Dennis spent many years working as a machinist, a trade that reflected his steady hands, strong work ethic, and practical nature. He approached his work with dedication and pride, and those who worked alongside him knew him as a dependable man who took his responsibilities seriously. Beyond his career, he was known for his willingness to help others whenever he could, often offering his time, his attention, and his good-hearted support without hesitation.

He was a Christian man whose faith was part of the foundation of his life. Dennis valued simple truths, honest relationships, and the comfort of being surrounded by family. He had a great sense of humor and a thoughtful way of connecting with others, and he could bring a smile to the faces of those around him. He especially enjoyed helping people, and that generosity of spirit was one of the qualities that made him so memorable. Dennis loved all pets, but he had a special affection for cats. He also enjoyed doing research on the computer, a pastime that reflected his natural curiosity and interest in learning. Whether he was exploring a topic online, sharing a laugh, or spending time with loved ones, he found joy in the everyday moments that made life meaningful. He lived with a gentle heart and a spirit that was both engaging and sincere.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Robidou of Wilson, N.C.; his daughter, Laurie Ackley of Athens, AL.; his granddaughter, Ciera Hoots, and her husband, Andrew, of Alcolu, S.C.; his great-grandchildren, Kaitlin Hoots, Aiden Hoots, Abigail Hoots, and Lucas Hoots, all of Alcolu, S.C.; his sister, Patricia Purvis of Pawtucket, R.I.; and his nephew, Brian Nelson of Pawtucket, R.I. He was deeply devoted to his wife Lorraine and to his family, and his love for them was evident in all that he did.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Maria Robidou, whose memory remained with him throughout his life. Their influence helped shape the man he became, and he carried forward the values of family, loyalty, and perseverance. His life was one of quiet strength and enduring affection, and he leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue in the hearts of those who knew him. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure.

A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family.
