Derrick Edward Driver, passed away on April 15, 2024. Born on June 29, 1985, in Wilson, NC, he was the life of the party from day one for his 38 years.
A true son of Pinetops, NC, Derrick spent over 25 joy-filled years there, endearing himself to the community with his wit and creative spirit. He was a mama's boy, and he wore that title like a badge of honor. His mother, Linda Perry of Pinetops, NC, undoubtedly infused him with her strength and humor, qualities that shone brightly in Derrick's own life.
Surviving in addition to his mother are his daughters, Skyla Driver of Tarboro, NC, and Natalie Buck of Greenville, NC, Katelyn Forehand of Pinetops, NC who will carry on his legacy of laughter and love for life's little adventures. His paternal grandparents, Leon Driver Sr. and Audrey who will surely recount tales of Derrick's childhood escapades, keeping his memory alive for generations to come.
Derrick is preceded in death by his grandparents Jack and Lela Perry, and he was also predeceased by his girlfriend Tina Owens.
Derrick was a master of the "it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission" philosophy, which led to many an unforgettable story that his family and friends will retell with laughter and head-shaking amazement. He was the embodiment of the phrase "to know him was to love him," and to be in his presence was to be prepared for a good time.
His creative mind was a fountain of hilarity, and he had a knack for turning the mundane into the extraordinary. Derrick was the guy you could count on to lighten the mood, the one who would crack a joke in the middle of a tense moment and remind everyone not to take life too seriously.
Derrick's legacy is one of joy, laughter, and the art of not sweating the small stuff. He was a beacon of light, a reminder that at the end of the day, it's the smiles we share and the laughter we remember that truly matter.
