Dorothy “Midge” Novy, 89, of Wilson, NC, passed away on April 4, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the peace of her Christian faith. Born on December 12, 1936, in Chicago, Il, she lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, creativity, and steadfast love for those blessed to know her. Midge was known for her gentle spirit, her warm heart, and the grace she carried throughout her life. She was member of the Lutheran faith and lived her life with a sincere trust in God’s goodness. Her Christian values were evident in the way she treated others, in the care she gave her family, and in the compassion she showed throughout her years. For many years, Midge worked as a data analyst in the newspaper industry, where she was respected for her diligence, intelligence, and dependable nature. She approached her work with care and precision, and those who knew her professionally appreciated her thoughtful manner and strong work ethic. Outside of work, Midge found joy in quilting and embroidering, and she especially treasured the opportunity to create meaningful pieces for others. She devoted much of her time and talent to making Quilts of Valor for veterans and embroidering memorials for fallen soldiers. These acts of service reflected her loving heart and her deep respect for those who served and sacrificed. Above all else, Midge was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she poured her love into each generation with tenderness and devotion. She is survived by her son, Jeff Novy and his wife Deb of Bailey, NC; her granddaughters, Jessica Decker and her husband Kevin of Clayton, NC, and Tiffany Taylor and her husband Matt of Zebulon, NC; and her great-granddaughters, Karlee, Josslyn, and Sloane Decker of Clayton, NC, and Shelby and Charlotte Taylor of Zebulon, NC. She is also survived by her nieces, Mary Bonner and her husband Wynn of Winter Haven, FL, and Sandy Brandt of Kemah, TX, as well as many cherished cousins, extended family members, and friends who will hold her memory dear. Midge was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald, the love of her life for 69 years. Their marriage was a beautiful example of enduring commitment, shared faith, and lasting devotion. She was also preceded in death by her son and daughter, David and Linda Novy. A celebration of her life will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to Hospice of Wilson, 1901 Tarboro St. SW. Suite 301, Wilson, NC 27893.
