Frank Walter Cherry, Jr.

Mr. Frank Walter Cherry, Jr., 79, Transitioned to his heavenly home on Monday, October 31, 2022, at the home of his nephew Vincent A Lucas in Wilson, NC. He answered the Lord’s beckoning call to enter from labor to reward. He was born to the late Frank Walter Cherry, Sr. and Carolyn Cherry Jenkins March 15, 1943, in Tarboro, NC.

He attended Edgecombe County public schools and graduated in 1961. Frank later joined the United States Army where he served with the 6th BN 2nd BDE at Fort Bragg, NC where he was honorable discharged in 1973. After his military career he moved to Philadelphia, PA where he was employed at Budd’s Automotive Steel Workers Company and retired from the company with many years of service.

Left to cherish his memory are his sister, Erma Cherry Lucas and her husband, Bobby; nephew, Vincent A. Lucas and his wife, Sinobia all of Wilson, NC; nephew Jamal D. Willis and his wife, Sherree of Angier, NC; great niece Ariel P. Lucas of Wilson, NC. Also, many extended family and friends also survive Mr. Cherry.

The Curtain Falls

There comes a time for all of us when we must say good-bye .. But faith and hope and love and trust, can never, ever die. Although the curtain falls at last, is that a cause to grieve? The future’s fairer than the past, if only we believe. And trust in God’s eternal care, so when the Master calls .. Let’s say that life is still more fair, although the curtain falls.

A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Cherry will be held Saturday November 12, 2022 at 11:00 AM with Matthew Richardson officiating at Providence Funeral & Cremation Service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society 655 15th Street, NW, Suite 503 Washington, DC 20005.
