James Eugene Barnett

James Eugene Barnett, 70, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, at Wilson Pines Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wilson, NC. He was born on December 8, 1952, in Corpus Christy, TX a son of the late Howard Barnett and Mildred Miller.

Mr. Barnett never met a stranger and made friends anywhere he went. He worked as an auto body repair man for over Twenty years at his company Barnett’s Paint & Body Shop in Florida where his work reflected how much he loved what he did. He was known as an artist and a master at his craft. James also enjoyed gardening and was very fond of his Lincoln Roses. Due to health reasons, Mr. Barnett transitioned from Florida to North Carolina several years ago to be close to his daughter who was the apple of his eye. He was a devout Christian, a family man, and a great father. James will be missed by all who knew him.

Surviving Mr. Barnett is his daughter, Nicole Jast and husband Alfred of Wilson, NC; brothers, Cliff and Randy Barnett of Starke, FL and Roger Barnett of Sanford, NC; sister, Gloria Barnett Hasner of Florida and many extended family members.

In addition to his parents, James is predeceased by his sisters, Doris and Coralyn Barnett.

Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
