James Green Obituary

James Richard “Ricky” Green, 71, of Stantonsburg, N.C., passed away on April 9, 2026, in Raleigh, N.C.Born on July 15, 1954, in Wilson, N.C., Ricky was the son of the late Sam and Delanie Green. He attended Saratoga Central High School and carried the values of hard work, kindness, and devotion throughout his life. Those who knew him will remember him as a loving, handy, and friendly man whose presence brought comfort and laughter to those around him.Ricky spent more than forty years of dedicated service with Wilson Overhead Door before retiring. He was respected for his strong work ethic, dependable nature, and the pride he took in doing a job well. His years of service reflected the same steady character that defined his life away from work, where he was always willing to lend a hand and help wherever he was needed. A Christian by faith, Ricky lived with a spirit of humility and care for others. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, and he also liked playing horseshoes, cooking out, and grilling. More than anything, he loved family gatherings and treasured the time spent with those he held dear. His happiest moments were often the simple ones, surrounded by loved ones, sharing food, stories, and laughter. Ricky is survived by his Wife, Debbie Peaden Green of Stantonsburg, N.C.; brother, Tony Greene of Elm City, N.C.; his sister, Kim Greene Millinder and her husband, Richard, of Wilson, N.C.; his nephew, Mason Greene of Elm City, N.C.; his stepdaughters, Wendy Dixon and her husband, Ricky, of Pikeville, N.C., Heather Parrish of Wilson, N.C., and Nikkie Sicko and her husband, Jack, of Wilson, N.C.; his grandchildren, Hunter Spivey of Pikeville, N.C., Nicholas Parrish, Kassidy Parrish, Eden Evans, and Havelah Sicko, all of Wilson, N.C.; his father-in-love, Willie Peaden of Elm City, N.C.; and many extended family members and friends who will cherish his memory. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by those who went before him and now welcome him home. Ricky’s life was one marked by loyalty, generosity, and love. He will be remembered for the warmth of his smile, the strength of his hands, and the kindness he showed to others. His legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply and in the many lives he touched through his friendship and care. As Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote, “To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.” Ricky Green did just that. He made life easier, brighter, and better for those around him, and his memory will remain a lasting blessing to all who knew and loved him.
