Leona Ioma Walker, passed away peacefully in Wilson, NC on November 8, 2025, at the age of 84. Born on February 7, 1941, in Norfolk, VA, Leona spent her life touching the hearts of those around her with her unwavering kindness and creativity.
Leona's journey through life was marked by her dedication to her family, her work, and her faith. She was the loving wife of the late Johnny Walker and the cherished mother of Sherry Reed, who, along with her husband Aaron, resides in Wilson, NC. Her brother, Bert Vellines of Virginia Beach, VA, and nephews Scott and Brian Vellines of Greensboro, NC, and many extended family members will remember her warmth and guidance. She was predeceased by her sons, Jerry Wayne Walker and Dallas Raymond Walker, her nephew Shawn Vellines, and four caring brothers.
In her professional life, Leona ran a successful cleaning business, Spick & Span, for over a decade in North Carolina. Alongside her husband, she co-owned J & L Tree Cutting Service, where her commitment to excellence and service shone brightly. Her entrepreneurial spirit and work ethic left a lasting impression on all who had the pleasure of working with her.
Leona's faith as a Jehovah's Witness was central to her life. Her devotion took her on many journeys, traveling to places such as Colorado, Texas, Arkansas, Virginia, Mexico, and throughout North Carolina to share her beliefs. Her love for her faith was evident in her tireless work and the joy she found in her ministry.
A Service for Leona and Johnny Walker will be held 2:00PM Saturday, November 29, 2025 at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1423 Forest Hills Rd NW, Wilson, NC 27896. The family will receive friends One hour prior to the service.
