Lloyd Jasper Smith, Jr.

Lloyd Jasper Smith, Jr., affectionately known as Junior, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2023, in Goldsboro, NC, at the age of 74. Born on July 19, 1948, in Greene County, NC, Junior was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend to many. Junior is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Wanda Smith, of Saratoga, NC, and their two children: daughter Rhonda Creel and her husband Micky of Stantonsburg, NC, and son James Smith and his wife Heather of Bailey, NC. He is also survived by his brothers Kenny Smith and his wife Brenda, and Randy Smith and his wife Maggie, all of Princeton, NC. Lloyd was the proud grandfather of Lauryn, Josh, Regan, and Reba, and the doting great-grandfather to Odin, Roman and Isabella Rose. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will cherish his memory. Junior was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd J. Smith Sr. and Virginia Grace Smith, as well as his uncle, Larry Smith. Throughout his life, Junior was known for his wisdom, creativity, and handiness. He was a master carpenter by trade and took great pride in his work. His craftsmanship can be seen in the many homes and buildings he helped construct throughout his career. Junior's dedication to his craft was matched only by his love for his family and community. He was a family man who enjoyed staying close to home and being there for his children as they grew up. Junior had a passion for country music and could often be found listening to his favorite tunes. He also enjoyed playing Rummy and fishing, which he often did with his friends and family. These activities brought him great joy and allowed him to create lasting memories with those he loved. Junior will be remembered for his wisdom, his creative spirit, and his ability to fix just about anything. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched with his kindness, generosity, and love. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
