Mary LaVonne (Thigpen) Raska

Mary LaVonne Raska, 66, of Elm City, NC passed away on Tuesday April, 27 2021 at Wayne Memorial Hospital in Goldsboro, NC. A native of Wilson, County, NC, LaVonne was born August 21, 1954 a daughter of the late James Thigpen and Jean Walston Jackson. LaVonne was a retired LPN and loved lions, crossword puzzles, crocheting and needle point. But her greatest joy was her family and friends. She was a devoted mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters, Rene Lamm of Elm City, NC and Shannon Noel Issette and her husband, Dan of Fountain, NC; sister, Patricia Sharp of Acworth, GA; granddaughter, Ciera Wright of Elm City, NC; great grandchildren, Mya Wright, Layla and Eli Jones all of Elm City, NC; aunt, Jane Lloyd of Clarksville, VA.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Eagle's Nest Church of God with Pastor Gail Garner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Eagle’s Nest Church of God. 5015 Four Tenths Rd, Elm City, NC 27822.
