Matt Anderson Obituary

Matt Clifton Anderson, a cherished brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2024, in Wilson, NC, at the age of 66. Born on July 10, 1958, in Ft. Lauderdale, FL, he spent most of his life in Oakland Park, FL. Matt's exuberant spirit and generous heart touched many throughout his memorable life.

Matt, known affectionately as the man with the magnetic personality, is survived by his loving brother, Steve Anderson, and his wife, Lucie, of Atlanta, GA; his sister, Cheryl A. Waite, and her husband, Tom, of Wilson, NC; and his adored nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Jen, Laura, Michael, Aimee, Cynthia, and Candace. A host of extended family members and friends also share in the loss of this remarkable individual. His presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. Matt was predeceased by his parents, Charles C. Anderson and Shirley Cain Anderson.

Most important to Matt was his faith in Christ his Savior and spreading God’s love to everyone he met.Academically accomplished, Matt held an associate degree in electronics, a field where he combined his analytical mind with his practical skills. He parlayed his education into entrepreneurship, owning and operating his own TV and repair shop in Oakland Park, FL. Matt's interests were as eclectic as they were enthusiastic. An avid fisherman, he found solace and joy in the quietude of nature. His love for cars was not just a hobby but a labor of love, especially when it came to restoring his beloved 1953 Chevy Truck, affectionately named Gracie. Travel was another of Matt's pursuits.

With a personality that could light up any room, Matt was a man who truly enjoyed life's simple pleasures. He maintained a commitment to physical fitness, often found practicing gymnastics. Jazz music was the soundtrack to many of his days, providing a rhythm to his step and a melody to his soul. Described by those who knew him best as friendly, intelligent, and analytical, Matt embodied the kind of person who made an indelible impact on those around him. He had a gift for conversation, a mind for detail, and a heart that readily embraced others.

In remembering Matt, one might recall the words of Ralph Waldo Emerson: "To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children... to leave the world a bit better... to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded." Matt Clifton Anderson's life was one of purpose, kindness, and connection. His legacy of warmth, wisdom, and genuine care for others will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to have known him.

The family would  like to express heartfelt thanks to Hospice of Wilson for their guidance, care and support during Matt’s final days.

A Celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family.
