Nina Lacy Obituary

Nina Robin Lacy, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2024, at the age of 71, in Goldsboro, NC. Born on April 16, 1952, in Evanston, IL.

Nina's early years were spent in the vibrant community of Evanston, where she was raised by her loving parents, the late John and Miriam Lacy. She was a sister to three siblings: her late brother John Lacy, her late sister Jill Lacy, and her surviving sister, Anne Luzzatto of New York, NY.

With a heart as expansive as her smile, Nina found her calling in volunteer work and being an active member in the community where she dedicated herself to helping others. Her professional journey was marked by compassion and an unwavering commitment to those in her care. Nina was not only a cherished colleague but also an active participant in various associations where she advocated for fairness, equality and justice for everyone.

Nina was known for her outspoken and loving nature. She was a woman who valued honesty above all else and championed the rights of the underprivileged, often saying, "Always going to fight for the underdog."

Family was Nina's greatest pride. She is survived by her daughters, Jennifer Holland and her husband Josh of Elm City, NC, and Melissa Featherstone of Atlanta, GA. Her legacy of love and strength lives on through her grandchildren, Shakeel Ali-Mapp of Sacramento, CA, and Annabelle Holland of Newport, NC. Her niece, Rebekah Logan of Upstate, NY, who holds dear the memories of her aunt's fierce spirit and warm embrace.

Nina's zest for life was reflected in her varied interests. A resident of Elm City for over twenty years, she was known to be a lover of Sue’s chocolate and a doting caregiver to her cats. Her friendship was a treasured gift, especially to her best friend, Sharon Ross of Chino, AZ, with whom she shared countless memories and laughter. Courageous, passionate, and loving are the words that best describe Nina.

A celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family.
