Robert Russell Obituary

Mr. Robert Louis Russell, 80, of Wilson, NC passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Wilson Medical Center in Wilson, NC. Mr. Russell was born May 29, 1942, in Charleston, County, SC a son of the late Murray Anderson Russell and Edith Polston Fairfax.

Robert was a U.S. Air Force veteran. A devout Christian, Mr. Russell loved Christian music and was a prayer warrior in his church Covenant Love Church in Fayetteville, NC, where he was a member for over 15 years and was also a volunteer for Operation Blessing in Fayetteville, NC for over 20 years. Mr. Russell really loved his mission trip to Haiti and talked about it often. He loved reading and studying the Bible. Robert enjoyed good food but, most important he treasured spending time with his family and friends. He was a blessing to others and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his sister, Linda Culbreth and his niece, Melanie Cox and husband Stanton all of Goldsboro, NC; nephews, Brent Culbreth and his wife, Shantel of Fayetteville, NC and Isaiah Russell and his wife, Jen of Crofton, MD; niece Lizzie Russell and her husband, Robert of Mooresville, NC; sister-in-law, Darnell Russell of Mooresville, NC and special friend, Melinda Foster of Fort Leonard Wood, MO also surviving are many great nieces and nephews as well as many other extended family members and friends.

In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Russell.

A service to celebrate his life will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Providence United Methodist Church, 202 Providence Church Rd. Goldsboro, NC 27530 with Pastor John Adderley officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church Covenant Love Church, 420 Dunn Rd, Fayetteville, NC 28312 or Operation Blessing, 1337 Ramsey St, Fayetteville, NC 28301.
