Shelby Taylor Childers

Shelby Taylor Childers, 65, passed away on November 14, 2022, at Wilson Medical Center, Wilson NC. She was born on July 24, 1957, in Wilson, NC a daughter of the late Ernest Wayne Taylor and Josephine Lucas. 

Mrs. Childers was a lifelong resident of Wilson, NC. She never met a stranger and was known as a hard worker. She was married to the love of her life Wayne Childers for over Twenty-Three years. Shelby loved helping people just as much as she loved cooking and spending time with her family. She enjoyed playing bingo, yard sales and walking on the beach. Shelby enjoyed feeling the ocean breeze on her face and the sand at her feet. She was a fun, kind and loving spirit that will be missed by all who knew her. 

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Childers is survived by her son, Stacy Jones, daughters, Christy Garris and her fiancé Drew, Brittany Bohne all of Wilson, NC; step-sons, Michael Childers and wife Tracey and Steven Childers of NE; step-daughter, Angela Auch and husband Corey of NE; brothers, Randy Taylor, and Joey Taylor of Wilson, NC; sisters, Jeanette Taylor, Deborah Mogica and Nanette Boswell of Wilson, NC; grandchildren, Tyler Garris, Ayden Sessoms, Koby Barnes, Brendin Armstrong, Taylor Childers. Kaelyn and Emily. 

The service will be held 2:00 pm Thursday, November 17, 2022 at Oak Hill Church, 6131 Town Creek Rd, Elm City, NC 27822 with Pastor Stephen Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will be held in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson, NC following the Service.
