Tilghman Alan Jones

Tilghman Alan Jones, 68, of Wilson, NC died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. Tilghman was born in Wilson, NC June 1, 1954, a son of the late Tillman Herring Jones and Christen Owens Jones.

He was a devout Christian and was a member of Gospel Assembly Church for over 20 years. Mr. Jones had a passion for writing especially poems. Tilghman was an Over the Road Trucker for over 30 years. He enjoyed people and never met a stranger. Tilghman proudly served his country as a United States Marine. Survivors include his daughter, Christy Garris and her fiancé Drew; son, Stacy Jones; brother, Danny Jones; sisters, Peggy Perez and Kathy Parish; grandsons, Tyler Garris and Ayden Sessoms; nieces Dawn Bailey, Cheryl Goff, Angel Parrish, Christina and Maria Perez all of Wilson, NC. Also surviving are many extended family and friends. Tilghman will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

A floating visitation will be held at Providence Funeral & Cremation Service from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday evening April 13, 2023, with a graveside service following on Friday, April 14, 2023, at ten o’clock in the morning at Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery located at 164 Longs Plant Farm Rd, Goldsboro, NC 27534 with Pastor Garland Driver officiating with military honors to follow.
